| (2)授業の概要 | コミュニケーションとは、他者と意味や理解を共有する複雑なプロセスであり、文脈、背景、文化などによって取り方・捉え方が変わってくる。「文化」とコミュニケーションと切り離せられない一方、「文化」の定義が困難である。さらに、「文化」は地域社会から、国家、人種や民族などの国家を超えたグループに至るまで、社会のいくつかの階層に存在している。
本セミナーでは、異文化間コミュニケーション、異文化間コミュニケーション能力、多文化共生、文化変容の概念に触れ、自らの異文化間コミュニケーション能力を評価し、深めることを目標としている。セミナーでは、グループディスカッション、グループワークとフィールドワークを通して理論を実践し、日本人学生、留学生、コミュニティーメンバーの交流や意見交換の機会も多く設けられている。
Communication is a complex process of sharing meaning and understanding with others, influenced by several factors including context, background and culture, among others. Yet while “culture” is inextricably linked to communication, it is difficult to define. To complicate matters, “culture” exists at several layers of society, from local communities to nations to extra-national groupings such as race or ethnicity.
This seminar aims to evaluate and deepen intercultural communication skills through engagement with the concepts of intercultural communication, intercultural competence, multiculturalism and acculturation, with ample opportunity to put theory into practice through group discussion, group work and field work. The seminar fosters interaction and exchange of ideas between Japanese students, international students and local community members.

| (7)事前事後学習の内容 |
原則、講義は英語で行うが、AIツールなどを用いてなるべく日本語に通訳するようにする。ディスカッションはコミュニケーションさえ取れたら何語でも行っても良い。提供される資料の多くは英語ですが、言語の授業ではないためディスカッションができる程度の理解を確保すれば十分です。可能な限り日本語訳も提供される。
The course lectures will be given mainly in English; however efforts will be made to translate to Japanese using AI tools, etc. as much as possible. Discussions can be in any language as long as communication is achieved. Most of the readings and class materials will be in English; however, as this is not a language class it is sufficient to understand enough of the content to participate in class discussions. Japanese translations will be provided when available.
